I remembered my first day of preparing my application, specially on filling up the forms, made it sure that the details and spellings are correct. One requirement, although it's a simple instruction, consumed my day on thinking how to create it.
You might come across this problem and hoping that what I'm sharing right now can ease your pain in dealing with this minute dilemma.
The problem is about the self-addressed mailing labels. How do we create it and why do we need to submit this, what's the use?
In an unlucky event, there might be a problem with your document due to incomplete filing, Canada will return your application. This is not the worst thing that will happen, but it wastes the time you spent on the whole process.
If this happens, Canada will use the mailing labels to return the application at your doorstep. As stated at the IMM5612-Document Checklist Item #21, there are two copies needed:
- one in English or French and
- the other in the official language of your country
How Does the Two Mailing Label Look Like?
I printed my 2 self-addressed mailing labels in an A4 size paper, landscape setup. Since the official language in Philippines is English, so I provided two identical documents.
What if English is not your official language? Let's say that your country is China, the mailing labels should look like this...
First copy:
A4 Size Paper
Language: English
Here is the sample document in Chinese format.
Second Copy:
A4 Size Paper
Language: Chinese
Use the official language used in your country of residence. This way, the postmaster can deliver your returned application correctly. Hoping it will not happen.
Insert these two documents together with your full FSW Canada application.

Bro, I am from SG too. Which service do you usually use to send documents to canada? DHL or just the singpost? My wallet is damaged by DHL. Sending documents to WES for example cost me a whooping $55sgd! I was thinking of using just singpost next time but is it recommended?
Hi Gilbert, I used Singpost for my Diploma to WES; I didn't try it for my FSW, but I think it should be fine since it's a Singapore postal. But, you need to consider the delivery lead time as compared to other couriers like DHL, Fedex, etc...

Yes, make sure that you're still there when they'll send letters.
Actually, if you get an agent, your mailing address is the agent's office.
Ben, first of all congrats on your successful application! My question is this: my sister and her husband applied under FSW category without a job offer but we somehow overlooked the self addressed labels. now I feel bad because I helped them with the application...Can it be a reason to deny application if you didn't include the labels?
Hi, the worst thing is they will return your application for the reason of lack of documents. But, another possibility is that they will just send you a letter requesting you to submit that document. Just wait for their request.

I really dont know what to put in my mailing address. My houseowner here in SG will soon move-out (estimated 6-8 months from now). If I submit my application this month, and in case Canada returns it due to lack of document, I might have moved-out already. Any idea how long it takes for them to process/check requirements from the time submitted? Hmm would not take 6 mos or more right?
I cant use my company's address since I might jeopardize my current employment. I dont want to use my Phil address too as I seldom go home (and I dont want my family to know about my application, I'll tell them if its approved already haha).

On mailing the application:
1. Should i include 2 self labelled/ addressed envelopes but with no stamps?
2. In the NOC category do I put in my professions name under the NOC? eg: Civil Engineer, Code 1412

1. That is not an envelope, it's just a piece of self labelled paper and no stamps.
2. You should indicate the occupation that was written in your COE and then the NOC code corresponding to that occupation.

I don't think so, because they will use that self addressed labels to return rejected application. If your application is approved, it will not be used. This is only my opinion.

I, sadly, didn't include the mailing labels in the application and just learned that the cap for the NOC that I have applied to has been met. What would happen when they want to return the packages I have sent? I have written my address on the front of the package, but is that enough for them to realize my address and send it back?

I don't think you should worry on this. CIC usually sends emails to applicants in parallel with a mailed letter. This may be applied to those who have negative results.
